Commercial EV Charging Grants UK: What's Still Available in 2025
EVCG, WCS, ORCS and Plug-in Van Grant — the grants UK businesses, landlords and fleets can still claim for EV charging infrastructure in 2025.
Several UK grants for commercial EV charging infrastructure are still open in 2025. The four that matter for most businesses, landlords and fleets are WCS, the EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets, ORCS and the EV Chargepoint Grant for Landlords. Here's what each covers — and how to combine them.
1. Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)
- Who: UK businesses, charities, public sector.
- How much: £350 per socket, up to 40 sockets.
- Covers: Purchase + install of OZEV-approved chargepoints.
- Best for: Workplaces installing 7kW or 22kW AC for staff and fleet.
Full walkthrough in our WCS guide.
2. EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets
- Who: UK SMEs (<250 staff).
- How much: Up to £15,000 per site, max 5 sites per applicant. Covers up to 75% of eligible cost.
- Covers: Infrastructure works — switchgear, cabling, ducting, civils — not the chargers themselves.
- Best for: SMEs preparing a site for future EV expansion. Pairs perfectly with WCS.
3. EV Chargepoint Grant for Landlords
- Who: Residential landlords (including HA and BTR).
- How much: £350 per socket, up to 200 grants/year for residential and 100 for commercial property.
- Covers: Purchase + install on tenant parking.
- Best for: Build-to-rent, HMOs, blocks of flats with allocated parking.
4. ORCS (On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme)
- Who: UK local authorities (private partners can co-fund).
- How much: Up to 60% of capital cost.
- Covers: On-street public chargers in residential areas without off-street parking.
- Best for: CPOs and developers partnering with councils.
What's closed (don't rely on these)
- EV Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) for homeowners — closed; only flat dwellers and renters now qualify under the EV Chargepoint Grant.
- Plug-in Car Grant — closed (vans, trucks, taxis and motorcycles remain).
Stacking strategy
The two big stacks for 2025 are:
- SME workplace: WCS (per socket) + EV Infrastructure Grant (per site). Up to ~£29,000 toward a single workplace project.
- BTR/HA landlord: EV Chargepoint Grant for Landlords (per socket) + Infrastructure Grant for Landlords (per site, up to £30,000).
How to claim cleanly
- Confirm eligibility before ordering hardware.
- Use an OZEV-authorised installer — non-authorised work doesn't qualify.
- Pick hardware from the OZEV-approved list for each scheme.
- Keep DNO and grant timelines aligned — many grants expire 6 months after issue.
